Calculations

For much of the theory used in the calculations, we recommend referring to:

    Running a calculation

Running calculations is an important aspect of Train Noise Expert; here is an introduction to the procedure, and some background information about what happens behind-the-scenes.

    Rolling noise

Train Noise Expert allows the calculation of rolling noise sound power (and indicative sound pressure levels) from input data related to train speed, and the properties of wheel and track components.

    External noise

Train Noise Expert allows the calculation of external noise levels at various receiver locations. Predictions can be made for ‘standstill’ or under train pass-by conditions.

    Auralisation

Train Noise Expert allows the calculation of audio files for auralisation at various receiver locations. Auralisations can be made for ‘standstill’ or under train pass-by conditions.
